APOE Genotype Distribution in Non-Genetically Determined Early-Onset

   Proposal Description:
   This project will determine the distribution of APOE e4 genotype in non-genetically determined patients with Alzheimer's disease (i.e., those without an APP or presenilin mutation), and examine the relationship between genotype and clinical and demographic features in this co-hort.  Specific Aim -  to determine if positive family history is associated with early-onset AD in patients without an APOE e-4 genotype.  Such a relationship might indicate that an as yet unknown genetic factor may be contributing to onset of disease in this population.
